The Japanese word “yakitori” has come to mean any small piece of food that is skewered and grilled (yaki), not just chicken (tori).

Ingredients

1 lb (500 g) flank steak
12 skewers wooden, soaked 1 hour
1/3 cup (75 mL) PC MEMORIES OF Kobe Tamari Garlic Sauce
1 green onion, finely sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat barbecue to medium-high heat. Lightly grease grill.
  2. Slice steak across the grain in 1/2-inch (1 cm) wide strips. Thread steak onto skewers. Brush with marinade. Let stand for 2 minutes.
  3. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Transfer to platter. Sprinkle with green onion.
  4. For dipping, serve with our citrusy soya sauce, Practically Ponzu Sauce (see website recipe).

Chef's Tips

An easy way to grease the grill is with an oiled cloth.
