Additional Information

  1. Preheat sandwich press. Using serrated bread knife, cut baguette into 16 1/2-inch (1 cm) slices, cutting at extreme angle so that each slice is 6 inches (15 cm) long. You will only need about two-thirds of the baguette. Spread one side of baguette slices with margarine and place slices on work surface, margarine side down.
  2. Spread jam on 8 baguette slices. Sprinkle 1 tbsp (15 mL) chocolate chips over each jam-covered slice. Top with remaining 8 baguette slices, margarine side up.
  3. Place two sandwiches on sandwich press and close lid, pressing gently. Grill for 2 to 3 minutes or until sandwiches are grill-marked, crispy and chocolate is melted. Transfer panini to serving platter. Sprinkle with fine grinding of spice grinder. Repeat with remaining sandwiches.
