This cheaters’ trifle uses canned custard, whipped cream and bought cake to make the easiest trifle ever. All the more time to spend with your family and guests!

Ingredients

1 Farmers Market Raspberry Loaf Cake
1 pint (550 mL) fresh raspberries
2 tsp (10 mL) ground PC Sugar, Chocolate & Cinnamon Blend Grinder
2 tbsp (25 mL) sweet sherry
1/2 cup (125 mL) PC Blue Menu Twice The Fruit Spread - Raspberry
1 can (400 g) PC Devon Custard
1 can (225 g) real whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Cut cake into 10 slices, then cut each slice into eight cubes. In bowl, toss raspberries with spice grinder.
  2. Place half of cake cubes in 8 cup (2 L) trifle dish or decorative glass bowl. Sprinkle with half of sherry and dollop evenly with half of jam. Pour half of custard over top. Sprinkle with half of raspberries. Repeat cake, sherry, jam, custard, berry layers. Cover with plastic wrap. Chill for 2 hours or up to 24 hours.
  3. Decorate top of trifle with all of whipped cream. Coarsely grind additional spice grinder over top, if desired. Serve immediately.

Chef's Tips

Substitute fresh strawberries and strawberry jam if you prefer.
