Shake up your usual barbecue routine with this authentic Chinese barbecue dish. Although 1/2 cup looks like a lot of soya sauce, much of the marinade is discarded so the finished dish is not at all salty.

1/2 cup (125 mL) PC Naturally Brewed Soya Sauce
2 tbsp (25 mL) PC Seasoned Rice Vinegar
1/2 cup (125 mL) PC Organics Pure Honey
1 tbsp (15 mL) minced garlic
2 tsp (10 mL) PC Pure Sesame Oil
2 tsp (10 mL) PC Black Label Chinese 5-Spice Blend
2 pork tenderloin, about 900 g total


  1. In bowl, whisk together soy sauce, vinegar, honey, garlic, sesame oil and Chinese 5-spice. Measure out 1/2 cup (125 mL) and set aside.
  2. Cut each tenderloin lengthwise on a diagonal into three equal strips. Place in resealable plastic bag with remaining marinade. Seal bag; turn to coat. Place in refrigerator for 1 hour.
  3. Preheat barbecue to medium-low heat.
  4. Lift tenderloins out of bag and place on greased grill, discarding bag with remaining marinade. Close lid. Cook pork for 3 minutes. Turn and brush with some of reserved marinade. Close lid. Cook for another 13 to 15 minutes, turning pork and brushing with marinade every 4 minutes, or until pork is cooked through.
  5. Transfer pork to cutting board. Loosely tent with foil. Let stand 5 minutes. Slice pork on diagonal and serve with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables, if desired.

PC Chef's Tips / You may find it helpful to score the tenderloins with sharp knife into 3 pieces on the diagonal before cutting all the way through, to make sure it’s of equal thickness.
