Additional Information


1 striploin steak (about 10 oz/300 g)
1 small onion, sliced in thick rounds
1/8 tsp (0.5 mL) each salt & freshly ground black pepper
1 portobello mushroom
Half sweet red pepper
2 tbsp (25 mL) PC Splendido Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Cold Pressed
1 PC French Baguette
1/3 cup (75 mL) PC Steak Sauce


  1. Preheat barbecue to medium-high.
  2. Place steak on greased grill. Cook 4 minutes per side for medium-rare or to desired doneness. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover with foil and set aside.
  3. Toss onion, mushroom and pepper with 4 tsp (20 mL) of the olive oil. Place on grill; cook 7 to 9 minutes, turning occasionally, or until tender-crisp and grill-marked. Remove from grill. Slice mushroom and red pepper.
  4. Slice bread in half horizontally. Brush cut sides with remaining olive oil. Place cut side down on grill; cook for 1 or 2 minutes or until toasted.
  5. Slice steak thinly. In large bowl, toss steak, onions, mushrooms, peppers and steak sauce. Arrange on bottom half of bread. Place top half of bread on top; press down. Cut in thirds.


Chef's Tips

If you are a confident barbecuer and your grill is large enough, you can streamline the cooking time by grilling the steak and the veggies at the same time.
