Additional Information

3 tbsp (45 mL) PC Burger Seasoning Mix
3 tbsp (45 mL) PC Mayonnaise - Made with Whole Eggs
1/2 cup (125 mL) PC Triple Cheddar Shredded Cheese
3 PC Zesty Garlic Deli Sliced Pickles , each cut into thirds
1 lb (500 g) lean ground beef
2 green onions, finely chopped
8 mini pita breads
Leaf lettuce (optional)
2 small ripe tomatoes, such as Campari, each cut into 4 slices

  1. Preheat barbecue to medium heat.
  2.  In bowl, combine ground beef, seasoning mix and green onions. Form into eight patties, each about 3 inches (8 cm) in diameter. Split mini pita breads in half horizontally and spread inner surfaces of eight pieces with mayonnaise; cover pitas with damp tea towel to prevent drying out.
  3. Place patties on greased grill. Close lid. Cook for 5 minutes. Turn; close lid and cook for 4 minutes or until cooked through. Sprinkle each patty with a little cheese, close lid and cook for 30 seconds or until cheese starts to melt. Place lettuce, if using, and a cooked cheeseburger on each bare pita half; top with slice of tomato, a piece of pickle and mayonnaise-spread pita half. Serve immediately.

Chef's Tips

Instead of barbecuing, cook burgers on greased foil-lined baking sheet in 375°F (190°C) oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until cooked through. Top with cheese the last minute of cooking.

Substitute mini dinner rolls for the pita bread, if you prefer.

To bump it up to a meal, serve with shoestring French fries and PC Tomato Ketchup.
